1989 Stratos 285 Pro Bass Boat
This the 285 Pro is an 18-foot, 8-inch dual-console model designed specifically with the serious amateur and budget-minded pro in mind. The hull design is well-suited for moderately rough water. It provides a quality dry ride. A nice blend of styling, size and fishing features.
The Pro model is based on Stratos’ Radial Vee hull design. This design incorporates an angled, modified-“V”-shaped hull that tapers off to a pad that uses a three-step keel to provide high-speed stability. The hull is hand-laid, using nine layers of fiberglass. Fiberglass stringers running the length of the hull, spaced on roughly 24-inch centers, provide longitudinal rigidity.
Wood is used around all storage compartments, rod lockers and live wells, and other high-stress areas like the casting deck. Surfaces all covered in new carpet.
Storage is about average for an 18-foot boat. There are two compartments that flank the live wells under the rear casting deck, and another much larger center storage compartment at the rear of the front deck. Every compartment is secured by flush-mounted, twist-style key locks.
All the lids fit snug and flush with the surrounding deck. No worries about catching a toe or tripping on uneven surfaces.
There is expansive storage toward the bow, under the front seat compartment, storage at the stern and rod lockers that can handle 7-foot rods.
